As a creative professional, I find that a set routine actually helps me to stay disciplined, on task, and ultimately more productive and creative! Here’s what my morning usually looks like:
- Walk
The first thing that I do when I wake up is to take Mona outside for a walk! It’s a great wakeup call and gives me energy to power me through the day
2. Morning Tea
When I come in from outside, I head over to the kettle to brew a cup of Stash Tea I gave up coffee a few years ago, but I still love the feeling of a warm beverage in the morning. Stash has more than 60 flavors to choose from, but my favorite is pomegranate raspberry! You can learn more and purchase at stashtea.com. Use code alishy15 to save 15%.
3. To do list
Next, I bring up our agency project management software to see where all of our projects stand. From there, I make a to do list with pen and paper to prioritize my day. There’s something about crossing items off that brings me so much joy!
4. Concept Review
On a shoot day, my next task would be to review all of our photo concepts so that I can familiarize myself with our needs for the rest of the day. The shotlist includes the products we’re shooting, background colors, camera angle, and props utilized.
5. Prop sourcing
Based on the shot list, I start pulling props together and putting them in order of the shotlist so that we can easily grab and go once we start shooting. We usually group shots by background colors to allow for seamless transitions.
6. Photo Shoot
Once we have the props and products ready to go, we start styling them to be photographed! This is my favorite part of the process. It is so much fun to see creative ideas come to life!
