Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Geraldine Ridaura, Matcha Queen, and I do anything and everything that has to do with matcha.
What’s the story behind your company?
Holy Matcha is San Diego’s first and second Matcha cafe.. aka, a cafe solely dedicated to matcha and matcha only.
What’s your favorite product or service that you offer and why?
You can take a wild guess.. but on the real, I do have many matcha drinks and by far my two favorite ones are the Ceremonial and Matcha Horchata.
What’s your advice to others who are interested in starting a business?
You need to have THICK skin, especially during times like this. As a business owner I love the good times, but when the bad times comes, you and you alone get hit really hard.
How has Covid-19 affected your day-to-day operations? How have you pivoted during this time?
I have to do everything TAKE OUT which isn’t ideal as Holy Matcha is an experience when you come in. I have pivoted by becoming the go-to person for orders. I fulfill all orders, pack them, ship them and/or deliver them myself. It hard but I have found another way to still keep my business running.
How can your audience help to support you during this time?
Oh gosh, in many ways. By simply tagging that Holy Matcha is still operating and doing take outs (for locals) and I can also do shipping (out of San Diego but within the US) any purchase greatly benefits the entire team at Holy Matcha right now.

What’s next for you and your biz? Any new products or offerings on the horizon?
I am hoping to expand my bottles and my retail line.
