One of the coolest parts of the new studio is that it’s certified for live/work! Which means most of my neighbors are entrepreneurs, photographers, creatives, and others who run a business from their loft living spaces – just like me!
Since I was set on having a client-facing studio environment, I wanted to do everything possible to divide and differentiate my living & working spaces. The office has partial walls, but the rest of the space is wide open. We installed a curtain system using the space’s existing beams, and it is the perfect, versatile solution for dividing the two spaces!
I’m excited to share the main shooting space, prop storage & office space in depth soon, but for now, I’m going to dive into my private sleeping area.
Welcome to the Sleep Space reveal!
Let’s start with the bed. Since I drove cross country, I could barely bring any furniture, so my old mattress was definitely out of the question. Helix Sleep popped in at the perfect time and it was such a relief to have it delivered straight to the front door (especially after hauling every other piece of furniture from different stores)! Aside from the convenience, I was able to customize the mattress based on my height, weight, body type, sleeping characteristics and more – it was such a cute and helpful quiz, and it totally worked! I went with the medium-soft option because I was always adding fluffy foam toppers to my previous mattresses to make them softer. With this new guy- I haven’t needed anything extra. I Iove it as is! That definitely calls for a confetti celebration, am I right?!
So with my stellar new mattress, I had to build a beautiful new room around it, right?
I found a basic down comforter, and topped it with the most beautiful spread of pillows and a floral throw from Gathered Home – copper accents were incorporated through a side table, pendant light and alarm clock! For a personal touch, I decided to use my very own photograph above the bed – I took this cacti photo at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Maybe printmaking is in my future?!
