2016 was an incredible year of growth both personally and professionally for LISH creative. And although we’re all ready for a fresh start in 2017, it would be remiss of me not to take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments and huge changes that made 2016 one of the best yet.
Topping the list, was leaving my full-time job in the advertising industry to work my own business full-time! I put in my time and grabbed some great experience in the process, but I finally felt ready to take the leap. I had been freelancing for 2 years on nights and weekends and burnout was at its peak for sure.
After leaving, I dove in with my first major retainer client, Revel & Co, and never looked back. I rebranded, honed my skills, narrowed my services, and gathered 40+ more clients along the way.
I also met an incredible group of 7 entrepreneur women who I now meet with in a virtual “mastermind” each week. We share wins, goals, struggles, and encourage each other to be the best we can be.
I spoke at my very first conference, taught myself how to produce video content, and hired multiple sub contractors to help with the workload.
Oh and there was another biggie too…I moved across the country into a live/work studio in LOS ANGELES!
The decision was part personal, part professional. Aside from Los Angeles being a creative epicenter and a home base for some of my clients too, my partner, Graham had just started his second year of medical school there and we were more than ready to live in the same place again.
Moving brought on new opportunities, friendships, and of course, some challenges, but at the end of the day, I was living in the same city as the man that I love and working to further build my own business. When I would feel overwhelmed, I kept coming back to these two incredible truths.
What’s next for 2017? Look for more colorful travels, an exciting business launch (it’s currently hiding somewhere on my site for those sleuths out there…!) and more time making California feel like home.
