If I wrote a book…

January 26, 2017

So many people contemplate writing a book, yet few actually take the leap to do it. I’ve always thought about it, and because of my love for vibrant imagery, a coffee table book always seemed like the best fit for me. So, when I was approached by Blurb Books to design my own book, it seemed like a dream partnership! Blurb is an independent, creative book-making platform that allows artists, designers, photographers, anyone really, to design, print, and even sell their own books through Blurb, Amazon, Ripple and the Apple iBook Store!

I’m not ready to sell mine just yet, but it was a great peek into the process of making a coffee table book come to life! Since I recently moved cross-country into a new Los Angeles studio space, I wanted to create a book that could serve as a stunning work portfolio and a conversation piece. Hello LA is also a tribute to my vibrant new city, featuring imagery from some of my favorite places including LACMA, Griffith Observatory, The Broad, and more. The 12×12 format is the perfect size to keep and display on my ottoman and I’m so impressed with the quality; it really does feel like you could buy it from a book store!

I was able to easily import, drop and drag photos to my liking using BookWright – Blurb’s own publishing tool. It’s available as a free download and is even preloaded with templates for additional convenience. For those who are more experienced, you can also design your book in InDesign, or upload the completed PDF.

Special thanks to Blurb for sponsoring this post.
