The Broad

My trip to The Broad was a strike of serendipity. After seeing dozens of beautiful Instagram images from Los Angeles' newest modern art museum, I knew I had to squeeze in a visit during my next trip to the west coast! But with free tickets reserved months in advance, Jenna (@circusofcakes) and I decided to try our luck at the standby line.

We secured a prime parallel parking spot, but when we approached the museum's fabulous, honey comb-style exterior, we were met with lines, on lines, on lines. We started taking some images and happened to bump into one of Jenna's old friends. As we chatted,  we learned that she had two extra tickets for the exact same time we arrived!  We were thrilled.

The Broad is made up of three floors with the first and third acting as gallery space. An extra-long escalator takes visitors directly to the third floor upon entry, but guests also have the option to take a sleek, clear elevator or the stairs, of course!

The lobby has a cave-like vibe, so when you emerge from the escalator on the third floor, it is like you have been transported to a bright white, modern art oasis. Straight ahead is the most colorful bouquet sculpture by Jeff Koons, and other amazing pieces are just steps away.
