This week, I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the Color Factory and it was INCREDIBLE! The Color Factory is a 12,000 (!) sq. ft. “color experience” located in San Francisco near Union Square. It was created by Jordan Ferney of @ohhappyday along with a team of artists and creatives including Jacob Dahlgren, Tom Stayte, Geronimo Balloons, Tosha Stimage, Stanton Jones, Andrew Neyer & Andy J. Miller, Carissa Potter, Jessica Hische, Rebecca Wright, Randi Brookman Harris, Leah Rosenberg and Erin Jang.
Walking through induced colorful sensory overload in the best possible way. I was in a state of child-like wonder as we ventured through to discover new surprises around every corner. I was also fumbling with my phone & camera to document as much of the experience as humanly possible.
When you walk in, you’re greeted by a rainbow elevator, a rainbow staircase, a two-story rainbow grid mural and a room covered from the floor to the walls in rainbow stripes….see what I mean by colorful overload?! It felt like I was in my very own version of Disneyland. The experience continues on with so many other delights including a balloon cave by Geronimo Balloons, a room of 10,000 ribbons, a room where it literally rains confetti, and a ball pit that is larger than my entire apartment!
If we’re playing the comparison game and you’re trying to get an idea of what it’s like, I will tell you that although the concept is similar to The Museum of Ice Cream and Refinery 29’s R29 rooms, The Color Factory is uniquely in a niche of its own. It is design-focused, less obviously sponsored, and so incredibly detailed that I think I could visit 10 more times and still not notice all of the cute details throughout. From decals, to bathrooms, to way-finding signage, to the way they display prices in the all yellow gift shop, everything was highly curated and beautiful.
If you’re a color & adventure lover like me, The Color Factory is a great excuse to plan a trip to San Francisco. They even worked with local businesses and artists to bring extra color to other parts of the city! Scroll through to see my full image gallery, and VIDEO!!! And buy tickets HERE.
