Located in DTLA’s Art District, the Museum of Ice Cream is quite a TREAT. With multiple colorful rooms to discover and sweet treats to enjoy, it’s an Instagrammers paradise! If you weren’t lucky enough to snag tickets (it’s currently sold out!) you have two options – you can A. head to the Arts District just to experience the epic pink exterior (it puts the Paul Smith Pink wall to shame!) OR B. you can wait until April 27th at 9am PST for additional dates to be released on the Museum’s website. In the mean time, start planning your trip by checking out my favorite photo opps:
1. The Banana-Split Room
My favorite of the whole BUNCH! This stunning installation features hundreds of hanging, spray-painted bananas, perfect for swinging boomerangs, and colorful still images like these:
Pose in front of the color split
Snag closeups of the banana-split
Hide behind each color – image by Cyn ( @hotpinkpineapples )
Crawl inside and photograph it from the inside-out
2. The Sprinkle Pool
A crowd favorite from the museum’s previous New York location, the new and improved LA sprinkle pool is a playground for millennial pink lovers like me.
Pretend to float away
Grab an overhead “I can’t believe I am actually swimming in here” shot – like this one featuring Courtney from @awhimsywonderland
Photograph all of the pool floats & subway tile dreams
Stick your toes in the sand, er, sprinkles!
3. Telephone Room
This is the first room you enter and everything is perfectly PINK. They even recreated “that pink door” from the infamous house in Palm Springs! How amazing!
Snap a photo on the way out with the palm print paper peeking through! (image by @splendid_rags )
Hold the phone (and then snap a pic)!
4. Walls Walls Walls
Everywhere you look there’s another fun WALL. Wallpapered walls, scratch and sniff walls, plastic walls, painted walls, embellished walls… they’re all here and they’re beautiful!
Scratch & sniff banana wall
Plastic rainbows
And another view of those featuring Jenna & Courtney from @awhimsywonderland , Leslie from @splendid_rags & Cyn from @hotpinkpineapples
The prettiest palm print wallpaper I’ve ever seen. And I just found out that my insta-friend @space.ram designed it so I love it even more!
An entire room dedicated to gummy bears and technicolored striped walls.
Pretty pastel word art
The embellished entry way wall!
5. Floors!
Don’t forget to look down! The California room has super fun faux walk of fame stars featuring puns like “Jimmies Fallon” and “Scoop Dog” and the Sprinkle Pool has the prettiest pink carpet!
