WHP Color Play

A few weeks ago, Instagram announced the most exciting Weekend Hashtag Project yet- Color Play!!! For those of you unfamiliar, the weekend hashtag project (whp) is a weekly contest that encourages users from around the world to submit photos using the hashtag that fall within a certain theme. Mystery, double take, and superstition have all been past themes, but given my crazy colorful Instagram world, the idea of color play was so exciting!!! And I also thought that this could be my best chance ever of being featured.

Since so much of what I do revolves around paint, I wanted to explore the colors and shadows of paint in motion.

I started by taking two old pieces of wood from my dad's shed and painting them white - I wanted a nice textured background!

then went to Home Depot to find the brightest shade of bubble gum pink they had, and rummaged through my leftover paint supply to find cans of electric blue and lime green - I once painted a dresser using these two crazy hues!

After enlisting the help of my younger sister, Carly, and my BF, Graham, we got to work pouring and photographing - trying to find cool angles!

or the second board, I had something crazier in mind: it would be the backdrop for a bubble gum pink explosion, on me! An art piece of sorts, illustrating my favorite color in motion.

We mixed some water in with the paint so that it would be more fluid and Graham did the honors, drenching me from the neck down. I have to say, his aim was on point!!! It was cold and messy and crazy, and the pictures were a little blurry, but we did the best we could and had a lot of fun!

I even managed to make this HILARIOUS GIF

posted a paint pouring photo and the pink explosion photo on Instagram as color play submissions, and although they were not chosen as top picks by Instagram, the paint pouring image did catch the attention of the Huffington Post! I was featured on the Arts & Culture section of their website in the article "15 Color-Drenched Photos that will make you taste the rainbow" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/18/color-photo-challenge_n_7079952.html I was so honored!

And now - I have two super cool backdrops to use for future shoots!!! 😘💕

Thanks for following the colorful craziness, everyone!
